I was browsing the interwebs today, and I found a cool little youtube vid with one of my favorite Genesis songs, Harlequin. The image for the song had an AWESOME remake of the albumart for Nursery Cryme. So I found the rest of the guys stuff: here is the original artwork for nursery cryme and here is the new one:
I also found one for Foxtrot and Lamb lies down. Foxtrot's original is below and the reworking:
And finally lamb lies down (which you won't understand the rework if you haven't heard or know of the lore of the album)
and the new one:
Check out his other artwork. His name is David Raphael http://genesislive.ning.com/profile/DavidRaphael
So I was listening to Genesis, my favorite band (david bowie is favorite single artist, duh), and Supper's Ready came in my playlist. This song is from the Foxtrot album, and my definition of Magnum Opus (great work). Totally 23 minutes, 7 sections (you can think of them as songs, but they have common riffs and elements), and like 5 different time signature changes. One section is called Apocalypse 9/8, which is done in the very strange 9/8 time... I mean its on the list of songs with strange time signatures on wiki. Anywho, I was browsing the ol' tube, and found a set of 3 real videos that have the entire song, beginning to end. I urge you to read the wikipedia article on this too. alrighty, here is Supper's Ready, by Genesis. God I love peter gabriel part 1:
part 2:
part 3:
enjoy.
Oh and a few more songs from the concert. Dancing with the Moonlit Knight (or selling england by the pound) from the album, selling england by the pound
I don't think this is from same concert, but still more Gabriel Watcher of the Skies, from foxtrot
Oh, so here is one more, and possibly my favorite: I know what I like (In your wardrobe) from Selling England by the Pound
